Memorial Day 2010 First Drive 1982 323i BMW Baur Lapisblau M20 5 speed #4154 of 4595 made. The car was imported to California by Dietel Enterprises. I have since changed the wheels, installed the clear turn signal lenses, and I am in the process of installing a new cabriolet roof. I have to do something about those bumpers, too. :) I love this car! To see one of the reasons why, check my post "Score One For the Good Guys" on 6/26/2011.

Elusive Local 2002: CONTACT!

Here is another pic of the elusive local 2002, taken this afternoon in a local supermarket parking lot.  I happened to be running an errand for work there, and I spotted it.

In this second pic, you may just be able to make out my BAURSPOTTING  card tucked under the windshield wiper.  I left a note for the owner, complimenting his car, and inviting him to join Nor'East 02ers group drive in CT in June.

In the course of my errands a little while later I passed this spot again, and cruised by the car.  Still there, no sign of anyone.  I had business in the store, and as I exited the store a few minutes later.... whoa!  There is a driver in the car!  I waved and ran toward the car.

So I am happy to report that I have, at last, successfully made contact with the owner of this elusive 2002!  His name is George, and he is interested in joining the CT drive in June, schedule permitting.  He is also looking for some guidance with his carburetor.  He mentioned that it leaked and was giving him trouble.  Hopefully when we do get a chance to meet up again in person, perhaps at the June drive, some member of the group may be able to give him some advice.  He is thinking of converting from a mechanical to an electric fuel pump also.

Stay tuned for more, and welcome to George from Groton CT!

I have more pics also.  Soon come (I am at work!)
