1982 BMW 323i Baur
Memorial Day 2010 First Drive 1982 323i BMW Baur Lapisblau M20 5 speed #4154 of 4595 made. The car was imported to California by Dietel Enterprises. I have since changed the wheels, installed the clear turn signal lenses, and I am in the process of installing a new cabriolet roof. I have to do something about those bumpers, too. :) I love this car! To see one of the reasons why, check my post "Score One For the Good Guys" on 6/26/2011.

New Find: Sabrina's TC1 in Germany!

Congratulations and welcome to Sabrina S. of Germany and her Stratusblau Metallic E21 Baur TC1, a 1981 323i Automatic!  Since I did not find it listed in either of the International Baur Registries*, it qualifies as a NEW FIND!  As you can see from the pic, it is Baur number 2418.
It looks alot like my 1982 Lapisblau Baur #4154, only in much better shape!  ;)  I love those clear signal lights, also!

Sharp looking Baur!  Thank you for posting, Sabrina!

THIS Is How You Do A Burnout! Video of Supercharged BMW 2002: Yikes!

Our friend, Thomas Nyman of Sweden, brought his amazing 2002 with a supercharged s14 engine to Bimmers of Sweden at Mantorp Park this weekend.

Here is his car.  :)
We have featured it here on Baurspotting before*.

This is a pic taken as he finished his 'burnout'!  Yes, the wheels are ON FIRE!  Yikes!  If you are familiar with the BMW 2002, you know that the fuel tank is located in the trunk, near the right rear wheel.  I asked Thomas if his fuel tank was still in the trunk.  "Yes tom, the tank are still in the trunk...

It was full with e85 petrol att the showtime!"  ---Thomas Nyman.

Mama Mia!  ;)  -------Baurspotting!   ;)

Yeah, the fuel tank is located right about where you see those flames shooting out of the wheel well.   See the gas cap?  The fuel tank is between the gas cap and the......  ummm .... FLAMES!  Double Yikes!  :)

Here is a pic of Thomas, the owner and builder of this machine, sitting cool, calm and collected after exiting the car, as he waits for some heroes to bring on the fire extinguishers! Do you believe there were NO fire extinguishers on hand for the Event Staff!!!

OK.... are you ready for the video?  :)  Enjoy!

 "Burnout Done Right!"

How about some theme music for the occasion!  The Band, from The Last Waltz:

"It was unmitigated disaster from the organizers ' page that there was not a single extinguisher in place!

Note that the film is clipped, it took longer than that before help came.

And when it came it came from two heroes in the audience.

Then afterwards came regular staff to the site like emoticon"

"only" scorched baksk√§rmar and wheel arches in the luggage as a result.  Clear patina becomes permanent viktor!! :)
From now on it is washing prohibition on the car!".
-----Thomas Nyman.

Thomas has stated that fortunately no one was injured and the damage was relatively minor..... thanks to the quick response of those whom Thomas has referred to as the 'Heroes' who brought out the fire extinguishers!

Great picture!

Thanks to You2ns for permission to use the video!  Amazing stuff!  ;)

Wanted: Baur Pics From The Vintage at the Vineyards 2015!

Baurspotters Alert!  This weekend is the 12th Annual Vintage (formerly The Vintage at the Vineyards) in Old Salem, NC!  This is one of the largest, and arguably one of the best, vintage BMW meets in the USA!  If you can go....DO IT!

My tentative plan to attend this year was just not in the cards, I am sorry to say, but I will make it one of these days!

So, Baurspotters, it is up to you to get some pics of the Baurs at this year's show!  Baurspotting would be much obliged to any and all who can shoot some pics of this year's attendees!

Tonight's post is intended to give you a little heads up on which Baurs to be on the look out for, based on previous attendance.  What follows is a compendium of Baurs pics taken by a variety of photographers including, but not limited to: Online Roundel, Der Bayerrische, jgerock, Bill W., Mike

Baurspotting did some research on the cover photo, and thanks to the help of 02Les and jgerock

and others, we were able to identify the four Cabrios pictured above.  They are shown below!

Chris I's Cabrio Targa from Philadelphia which has since been damaged in a hit and run while parked.

Bob's 1600 Cabrio from 2012
Rob's  Lumma Cabrio from VA
Dirk de G. from FL

This next Baur was a mystery to us for a couple of years, but we finally tracked it down!
We have since identified the owner from Hickory, NC, although we think it may have been sold to Nick O within the past year.  Unconfirmed, so stay tuned!

Formerly Bruce H's TC1 Beauty from Atlanta, since sold

Bruce and Hickory NC Baurs
As you can see, we had a ton of pics of the Mystery Baur, but no one could identify it.

Here is a post on how we tracked it down, finally:

So, Baurspotters, please keep your eyes peeled for any of these Baurs---- and who knows what others may show up!

Stay alert!  ;)

Thanks in advance, folks!  Have a ball at The Vintage!

Baur Garden!

Thanks to my friend, Hans Wortelboer, for sending me these pics today, which he captioned "Only in The Netherlands"!  Photo credits: Senad Grabovac.

In Germany they have "Beer Gardens', but, in The Netherlands: "A Baur Garden"! ;)

Don't crush those old Baur shells: Plant them!

Make your own Baur Garden! ;)

I love it!

Thank you, Hans!
