1982 BMW 323i Baur

1982 BMW 323i Baur
Memorial Day 2010 First Drive 1982 323i BMW Baur Lapisblau M20 5 speed #4154 of 4595 made. The car was imported to California by Dietel Enterprises. I have since changed the wheels, installed the clear turn signal lenses, and I am in the process of installing a new cabriolet roof. I have to do something about those bumpers, too. :) I love this car! To see one of the reasons why, check my post "Score One For the Good Guys" on 6/26/2011.

Eric P. Spots Two Baurs in Colombia Collection Featured in Petrolicious!

Thanks to our old friend from E21 Bimmerforums, Eric P., for spotting these Baurs in this Petrolicious article* about an unusual car collection in Colombia.  Check out the article from the link below!
The first is this pic of the Baur badge on the B pillar.  That badge was used on the E30 TC2 Baurs, and it is different from the Baur badge on the E21 TC1 Baurs.  But that is all we see of the car, unfortunately, unless I missed something!  Such a tease!  ;)

Here we see a different Baur:  this one is an E21.
Although the Baur badge is not visible on the car above, here is an example of what the E21 TC1 Baur badge looks like:
You can see that it is quite different from the later TC2 version.  There is some more information on some of the differences between the early and later Baurs here:

Check out the article here, lots of car pics and an interesting story behind the collection.

Thanks for the heads up on this, Eric!

Baur iX Spotted in Greece!

Thanks to Baur Guru Jeroen Janssen for posting this Baur iX in the Baur IX Facebook page*.  One of only 118 built, this Baur is among the rarest of the uber-rare!

None exist in the entire Western Hemisphere, as far as we know! Not a single one!   I would love to change that!  ;)

B48748- 13, located in Greece.

Jdroen's comment with his post:  "He has no climate, at least not from work. The first time I heard about this car was 2011, and the owner lacked the targa roof and the papers. This picture I've just found on Facebook and is from 2014. If he has changed van owner by now, I'm not clear yet."

Voll Cabrio by Baur Spotted Again in Wells, Maine!

Thanks to Joe Goldsberry for spotting this Baur in Wells Maine today, and thanks to David Combs for  alerting me to it!
Here are Joe's comments about it in Facebook today:
"Saw this beautiful 1600 in Wells Maine today. All original except for the roof. No rust!"

Seems like we spotted a similar one recently up in that area.  Could this be the same one?

Answer, YES!

On July 7, 2017 our friend Wink Cleary posted this message:  "Spotted in Wells, Maine.."  It was accompanied by this pic:
We asked about the license plate.  Wink Cleary replied, July 7 2017: "I couldn't read it no matter how much I enlarged the photo. It's at a service station so it may be a repair type plate.. Interestingly enough, the google street view shows a VW thing convertible (Bing shows and e46 vert) in his lot so I suspect the place is known for its classic car work."

Joe Goldsberry, 4 minutes ago: "That's the car. Brown's service station on Rt 1 across from the police station."

The license plate, even from a distance seems to match.  Bingo!  Now we just need to track down the owner!  Pine Tree Chapter Represent!  ;)

UPDATE 11:40pm July 18, 2017:  Well, that didn't take long!

Joe Goldsberry "The owner of the garage owns it. He said he also owns several Austin Healey's too."

Thank you, Joe!  Great job!   ;)

Baurspotter Extraordinaire Spots Another E21 Baur In South Florida: Thank you, Eric B.!

Thanks once again to our friend and fellow Baur owner, All Star Baurspotter Eric B. out in LA for spotting this Baur in South Florida!  Eric doesn't miss a trick!  Sheesh!  The guy is incredible! I have lost count of how many beers I owe him for his contributions! ;)    Thank you again, Eric!

Seller's comments:
Color: White

Interior: Navy Blue

Baur Edition - Cabriolet body style - manufactured by Baur - was available from 1978 to 1981.

This 1981 BMW E21 is well kept over the years, with no rust and mechanically sound.

Need nothing and can be enjoyed as-is immediately.

The super-straight and sanitary looking exterior recently painted, in the original white color and was properly done.

Rubber, plastics, chrome, and other bright work all looks original, as the OEM rims.

The soft top is in fair condition for its age.

Inside the navy blue interior, is very well maintained and original with the original Recaro Seats.

The dash has a new dash cap, and the transmission has the original 5-speed.

Very curious to know the Baur number on this one!  We will try to track it down, so stay tuned!  ;)

Thank you, Eric B.!  Baurspotter Extraordinaire! !
