1982 BMW 323i Baur

1982 BMW 323i Baur
Memorial Day 2010 First Drive 1982 323i BMW Baur Lapisblau M20 5 speed #4154 of 4595 made. The car was imported to California by Dietel Enterprises. I have since changed the wheels, installed the clear turn signal lenses, and I am in the process of installing a new cabriolet roof. I have to do something about those bumpers, too. :) I love this car! To see one of the reasons why, check my post "Score One For the Good Guys" on 6/26/2011.

Part II: Five (5!) Baurs At Bav Auto Show And Shine 2014!

Here is a compilation of pics from numerous sources of the Baurs that attended the Bav Auto Show and Shine, October 5, 2014 in Portsmouth, NH.  There were 5 Baurs there, along with several other Baur owners who were unable to bring their Baurs that day.

Here you can see 4 Baurs lined up on the side of Constitution Avenue about 7:45am, waiting for the gates to open at 8 o'clock:  (R to L) Afonso's Polaris 1978 320/6, the Baurspotting 1982 323i, Dave T's 2002 Taiga Cabrio Targa, and Peter M's 2002 White Cabrio Targa.  We met up with the Nor'East '02ers group a few blocks up the street, and all arrived at Bav Auto together.

After a short wait, Bav Auto staff ushered us in to our designated group parking area.

The three gentlemen talking at the right of the pic are all owners of 2002 Cabrio Targas:  Peter M., Dave T. and Amandio A.  Amandio's Baur was not present at the show.

Tom  (Baurspotting) talking with a couple from New York who recently purchased Matt S's (from Philly) beautiful Cranberry Baur.  They did not bring their Baur to the show, but we hope to see it at a future show.

Dave 's Cabrio Targa.
The place is clearing out, but the die-hards are still hanging out.  Afonso and I are talking with Adrian P, Vice-President of the Connecticut Valley Chapter BMW CCA, and Lee P., next to "The Bean", Lee's beautiful 2002, which she has owned since she bought it new in Germany!

So, you have seen 4 Baurs above.... yet I stated that there were 5 at the show.   Here is the Fifth Baur:

FOUR BAURS, SIX BAUR OWNERS IN ONE PIC!

I love this pic which has captured the 4 Baurs, but it has ALSO inadvertently captured 6 Baur owners!   Peter, David and Amandio are standing together in front of Peter's white Cabrio Targa.  And off to the left, in front of the Baurspotting Baur, you can see Tom and Afonso talking with the couple from New York who just bought the Cranberry E21 Baur previously owned by Matt in Philly.  Congrats to the unknown Bav Auto staff photographer who took this pic!  :)

OK, THIS is my Favorite Pic of the Day!

(L to R) Afonso, Tom, the buyer of Matt S's (Philly) Cranberry Baur and his girlfriend/wife.  Afonso's Polaris Baur at right, Baurspotting Baur at left;   Dave T's green Cabrio Targa Baur and Peter's white Cabrio Targa can be seen at far left.  Also, if you look at the lower right of the pic, you can see the shadow of the photographer with an extended pole that he was using to shoot the pic!

We had a great time:  it was a great show, great weather, great cars, friendly fellow Bimmer enthusiasts, some great new friends, and great food!  And it was all free to all!  Thank you to Bavarian Auto for putting on a great event, and for making it a charity Benefit for the Susan Komen Breast Cancer Foundation!

So, on top of all the other superlatives, a HUGE KUDOS to Bavarian Auto for supporting a Great Cause!

It doesn't GET any better than this, folks!

:)

**Thank you to all the photographers (noted above--- I hope I didn't miss anyone) for capturing these wonderful memories of the event!**
