Memorial Day 2010 First Drive 1982 323i BMW Baur Lapisblau M20 5 speed #4154 of 4595 made. The car was imported to California by Dietel Enterprises. I have since changed the wheels, installed the clear turn signal lenses, and I am in the process of installing a new cabriolet roof. I have to do something about those bumpers, too. :) I love this car! To see one of the reasons why, check my post "Score One For the Good Guys" on 6/26/2011.

BMW Day at Larz Anderson Museum: the 2002s

I left my house in Connecticut around 7am Sunday morning for the 110 mile trip to the BMW CCA Day at the Larz Anderson Automobile Museum in Brookline, MA.  With temperatures in the low 60s, it was a gorgeous morning for a top down cruise!

I arrived at just about 9 o'clock.  Event staff parked me at the head of a new row, right behind the registration table for the 'Display Only' section.   About a 1/2 hour later, as the field was beginning to fill up..... whoa!  Look what pulls in on a trailer!

My favorite color combination on this widebody track car!

Fiberglass hood and trunk.

And look where they parked it!  Right next to Yours Truly, and right in front of the registration desk for the "Display Only' entrants!  So it is really the first thing you see when you arrive!  Nice!  We are off to a brilliant start, folks!  ;)

Oh my, look at these babies!

These two '02s were parked in the front row of the 'Judged' section, right next to the Alpina Z8, the M1, and the Z1 (both Baurs, btw!).

You can just see the blue Z1 at the left, and the M1 next to it.

I believe I met the owner (at left) last year, but he was engrossed in a phone call in this pic, and I did not get a chance to talk to him.  Check out that red 6 Series parked at right:  yes, that is a Cabrio!   Stay tuned for more pics of that car in a later post!

Touring

So, by my count, there were 6 2002s on the main field at BMW Day at Larz Anderson.  I did not get a chance to check out the spectator parking area up on the hill behind the museum, so there may have been others up there that I did not see.  I loved them all, but especially that Bavarian blue and white track car that spent a couple of hours parked next to me!

Stay tuned!

Much, much more to come from BMW Day at the Larz Anderson Museum!
