1982 BMW 323i Baur

1982 BMW 323i Baur
Memorial Day 2010 First Drive 1982 323i BMW Baur Lapisblau M20 5 speed #4154 of 4595 made. The car was imported to California by Dietel Enterprises. I have since changed the wheels, installed the clear turn signal lenses, and I am in the process of installing a new cabriolet roof. I have to do something about those bumpers, too. :) I love this car! To see one of the reasons why, check my post "Score One For the Good Guys" on 6/26/2011.

1600-2 Cabrio by Baur Posing As A '316 Cabrio' in Italy!

No wonder it won't sell!    ;)

Thanks to John Whetstone for the heads up to this posting:  it is a 1600-2 Cabriolet by Baur, but for some reason the seller has listed it as a "316 Cabrio".  That tells me he doesn't know very much about the car, but we are also told that it has been for sale for two years!!
I apologize for the teeny pics, but it wouldn't allow me to save the larger ones, without going through an act of Congress.  :)

OK, ok, I will do one for you.  :)
It is a multi-step process to get the pics from that ad into this size and format, and I just don't have time this morning to do all 15 pics!    :)

Here is a little more of a taste but....  please go to this link for the sale ad, where you can check it out with the larger pics:
http://www.autoscout24.com/Details.aspx?id=202402692

So, back to the status of this car:  it is mislabeled in this ad, and it has been for sale for a long time.  That can only mean one thing:  it is overpriced and he is not reaching his target audience.

OK, two things.  :)

Notice that there are no pics with the top on.  If you look at the pic of the top, it appears damaged.  The overall condition of the car appears, well.... neglected.  It doesn't show a lot of rust, but who knows what is hidden from view.

If the seller would be a little more forthcoming with the details on what the car needs, and a little flexible on the price, ---assuming this is not a tarted-up rust bucket---- I would think this would sell in a heartbeat!

The fact that it has been on the market for about two years tells me.....  go cautiously and:   CAVEAT EMPTOR!

Here are the seller's translated comments:
"CAR IN GOOD CONDITIONS
ENGINE / TRANSMISSION / CLUTCH OK JUST MADE CUTTING AND VARIOUS CONTROLS
HOOD TO REDO"

€ 13,500.-

Convertible

I would be curious to learn
what it finally sells for!!!
Please keep us posted! :)
Thank you, John Whetstone!
