Thanks to my friend, Erik M. for the heads up on this sad E21 Baur for sale.
As I looked through the ad, I recognized the Baur plate number: this Baur belongs to George K., whom I met at the Vintage at Saratoga a couple of years ago, with his copper E21 Baur!
Small Baur World Again!
Here are the seller's comments:
This is a great opportunity for parts or restoration. The Bauer option is very rare. This is one of 2538 E30 320I's produced. Worth far more in asking price for its parts alone.

There are a few errors in those notes:
1) it is NOT an E30. It IS an E21.
2) It is NOT a 320i. It IS a 320/6.
3) It is a Baur, not a Bauer!
Sheesh.
:)
the seller restored another E1 Baur. He may have used this as a parts car. Caveat emptor.

You will find a pic of George's other Baur (#635) here:

Something strange about that engine, a 320/6 would have a single downdraft carb on it, this looks like it has 2 smaller downdraft carbs. Checked the VIN on Realoem and it comes up as a US Spec 85 535i E28....
ReplyDeleteThank you, Bret! We will continue to pursue this! It is also being discussed in Facebook.
