1982 BMW 323i Baur
Memorial Day 2010 First Drive 1982 323i BMW Baur Lapisblau M20 5 speed #4154 of 4595 made. The car was imported to California by Dietel Enterprises. I have since changed the wheels, installed the clear turn signal lenses, and I am in the process of installing a new cabriolet roof. I have to do something about those bumpers, too. :) I love this car! To see one of the reasons why, check my post "Score One For the Good Guys" on 6/26/2011.

Damn The Torpedoes! Full Steam Ahead! Bill Caswell and Sam Smith!

The Connecticut Valley Chapter (CVC) of the BMWCCA is holding its annual dinner meeting tonight.  Featured Guest Speakers are noted Rally Driver Bill Caswell (above right) and journalist Sam Smith (Roundel columnist, among other credits, above left). I have invited my two sons to join me at the dinner.

Here's the catch: the dinner is 70 miles away for my son, Brian, and I, and about a 40 mile drive from another direction for my son, Andrew. It is now about 9am, the dinner starts at 6pm tonight, and it is snowing like crazy! We are predicted to get up to 7 inches of the white stuff before it ends later this afternoon.

Problem?

Well, we have been really looking forward to this for about a month now. Should a little ..... Ummm .... inclement weather disrupt our plans? Not bloody likely! Here's why.

Bill Caswell became something of an Internet sensation with the publication of this article, recounting his adventures at the 'Mexico round of the World Rally Championship in a 1991 BMW 318i that he found on Craigslist."  The article was written by Sam Smith.

That's right, Bill and Sam are the same two guys that will be the guest speakers tonight!   Wait, there's more:

Caswell is currently preparing an ix to run at Sno-Drift 2012.  The video above shows him driving a 1991 318i at the Rally America Sno-Drift 2010.

So... what is a little snow when it comes to having the opportunity to meet these two guys up close and personal!!!

Damn the torpedoes!  :)

Stay tuned!  I will try to do some updates to our snow adventure later today and tonight!
