1982 BMW 323i Baur

1982 BMW 323i Baur
Memorial Day 2010 First Drive 1982 323i BMW Baur Lapisblau M20 5 speed #4154 of 4595 made. The car was imported to California by Dietel Enterprises. I have since changed the wheels, installed the clear turn signal lenses, and I am in the process of installing a new cabriolet roof. I have to do something about those bumpers, too. :) I love this car! To see one of the reasons why, check my post "Score One For the Good Guys" on 6/26/2011.

E30 Baur TC2 Production Numbers By Year in Stuttgart and in South Africa

Thanks to Baur Guru Jeroen J. of The Netherlands for this chart showing the production numbers of the BMW Baur TC2 from 1982 to 1991.  The green line shows the production figures from Baur at Stuttgart, while the red line shows the production figures for the Baurs that were produced in South Africa under license to Baur.

South African-built Baurs are distinguishable from those built in Stuttgart by the color of the Baur frame:  Stuttgart-built frames are all black;  SA-built frames are body-colored.  They are extremely rare in the US.

Here are a couple of posts about the SA Baurs.

Thank you, Jeroen!

Here is a price list for the E30 TC2 from 1988, showing the range of models available at that time.  Prices are in Deutschmarks.

Although BMW Baurs were produced in limited numbers (14,455 for the TC2, 4595 for the TC1, and about 4,000 E10 Voll Cabrios and Targas.... 1 TC3 and a small number of TC4s), if Baurspotting's readership is any indication, there appears to be a growing world-wide interest in them.  Here is a post about the global reach of Baurspotting over the last two years:  Baurspotting has been read in 135 countries that we know of, possibly more!  No one is more amazed at that fact than this writer!

:)

Thank you all!
