'Ok, who was driving what?'

Caravan stopping to help out.

Police have arrived. Moments before this the caravan was flying down the nj turnpike, having a blast. As you can see a large group of drivers pulled over to lend support, ahelping hand, or. Little close up rubbernecking. This certainly put safety In focus... This can happen so easily. Thank goodness it was not any worse: no injuries.... Cars ca be fixed. A moment of carelessness. Ut a little damper on the celebratory mood. Turner Motorsports and BMW team appeared to do a good job of helping out. Both drivers very upset, needless to say.

Hazards of caravanning to Bimmerfest

Caravan passing thru toll booth on Garden State Parkway.... A group of cars waited for others to regroup... And then this. All we saw was smoke rising as we left the toll both. Uh oh. Luckily, No one was hurt, other than some very bruised egos and feelings. It appears that the group started to move out, so the M Coupe checked over his left shoulder to merge with traffic, and suddenly the M5 was still in front of him. Bam. I can't say exactly how accurate that is, but that is what I was told.... And what I overheard being told to the Police Officer.

Here is a guy I hope to see at Bimmerfest East this weekend. This show is practically in his backyard, so ... if he can drive this car to Saratoga, NY, I am thinking he will show at Aberdeen, MD. That is a Baur, by the way.  Photo from The Saratogian.

Lothar Schuettler, center, stands near his 1956 BMW 502 convertible after driving it from his home in Bethesda, Maryland to the Saratoga Automobile Museum for this weekend's Saratoga Spring Invitational auto show. Schuettler's is one of about 10 remaining of the original 54 vehicles manufactured. Powering the vehicle was a V8 engine which was highly unusual at the time in Europe because of petrol costs. "When I was growing up in Germany most of the people driving cars like this were doctors or dentists" said Schuettler who also trailered a 1937 BMW 328S Roadster to the show. Baur TC2 Google Map

We are starting to receive more information on the E30 TC2 Baurs in the US.  I have added some recent arrivals to this map.... whic is nowhere near complete.  There are, no doubt, many more TC2s here in the US, but we don't often see much information about them.  Perhaps we can begin to change that!there were over 10,000 E30 TC2 Baurs produced in Germany, and 3,000 more were produced in South Africa under a license from Baur.

We don't have any official figures on how many were imported to the US, either through dealerships or through 'grey market' channels.

So this map is at least a start to tracking some of them down.

E30 M3 Baur!

We have just learned about this converted E30 M3 Baur in Dallas, Texas.  That is all we know at this point, but we are working to get more info for you.  We wanted to post this now for your enjoyment.
