Memorial Day 2010 First Drive 1982 323i BMW Baur Lapisblau M20 5 speed #4154 of 4595 made. The car was imported to California by Dietel Enterprises. I have since changed the wheels, installed the clear turn signal lenses, and I am in the process of installing a new cabriolet roof. I have to do something about those bumpers, too. :) I love this car! To see one of the reasons why, check my post "Score One For the Good Guys" on 6/26/2011.

Very Sad News: The Demise of Jesse's Beautiful Baur #4210

We have some sad news to share with you today from our friend and fellow Baur owner, Jesse Nemec.  There was a tragic fire over the weekend in the hangar where he has kept his Baur stored.  Jesse was out of town at the time, and has just returned to examine the damage.  It is a total loss.

Here are the pics he posted today in Facebook.  WARNING:  they are not for the faint of heart.

Here is the link to Jesse's post in Baur BMW Owners Facebook page today:

Our sincere condolences to Jesse on his loss.  Here is a news report with video of the fire.

In tribute to Jesse and Baur 4210, I offer a couple of links to previous Baurspotting posts on Baur 4210.  What a great loss this is for Jesse!

And for our whole Baur Community!

Jesse also owns the E21 parked be hid the Baur, another beautiful car!

Baurspotting goes back a long way with Baur 4210.  Here is one of the earliest pics that we have in our files, going to before Seth C. owned it!

There lots more pics on both of those links.  This was a beautiful restoration, and we are very saddened to witness its demise.  Although I am sure this was a heart-rending experience for our friend, Jesse, we all know that there are worse things that can happen.  We are grateful that it wasn't any more serious, in terms of life or limb.  Although Baur 4210 was a very special example, the bottom line is that cars can be replaced.

We wish Jesse all the best, and we look forward to seeing the next car he will preserve!
