1982 BMW 323i Baur

1982 BMW 323i Baur
Memorial Day 2010 First Drive 1982 323i BMW Baur Lapisblau M20 5 speed #4154 of 4595 made. The car was imported to California by Dietel Enterprises. I have since changed the wheels, installed the clear turn signal lenses, and I am in the process of installing a new cabriolet roof. I have to do something about those bumpers, too. :) I love this car! To see one of the reasons why, check my post "Score One For the Good Guys" on 6/26/2011.

Seventies Skateshop's Two TC2 Baurs in the UK

Our friend Seventies Skateshop posted pics of his two Baurs today in Facebook:  a 316i and 318i.  He is in the UK.

"Some more photos of my bmw baur 316i and my 318i how it left the factory."

Thanks for posting, Seventies Skateshop!

OK, full disclosure:  I bought one of these Baur badges from his site the other day... it arrived in the mail yesterday.  Pretty quick delivery considering it had to cross 'The Pond".    It is the same one that you can see on the grill of the black Baur above.  :)

New 2002 Lumma Cabrio!

Thanks to '02 Cabrio owner Mark S. for this info on ANOTHER 2002 cabrio!  This time it is a red Lumma cabrio that he spotted at Port Huemene, CA when he picked up his cabrio there a few years ago.

We have some pics in our files of a couple of red Lummas..... but they are a brighter red than this.  Could one of them be this car?  it's possible.

Baurspotting is ON THE CASE!

OK, Baurspotters:  does anyone recognize this Lumma Cabrio?  Where on earth could it be?

:)

What, you are still here???   Let's go find it!

:)

Thanks, Mark!

UPDATE 10:45pm 3/26/2014:
Here is an old link from 2002FAQ about Lummas that may be of some interest:

Whoa... here is another thread.... with this red cabrio in it from 2012!  I forgot all about this.... but I think this is where I first heard about a red cabrio in the port that day!

Presenting: Restored E21 Baur 4593!

Thanks to my friend, Andreas T. of Belgium, for these wonderful pics of the restoration that he did on Baur #4593 for Frits L.  This is Baur #4593 out of a total of 4595 that were built, so this is one of the last of the breed!

This post is long overdue, btw, and I apologize to Andreas and Frits for not getting it posted sooner.  It has been a hectic month!  Mea culpa.  :)

Here is the finished product on display.  Gorgeous.  E21 Baur #4593.

But it didn't ALWAYS look this stunning!  ;)  It needed a bit of work.
As you can see.

And that is where my friend, Andreas, comes in.  You might recall that Andreas is the owner of Baur #000001 and Baur #004595, the very first and last E21 Baurs.  We have featured Andreas and his work in Baurspotting before.

Baur #4593 and proud owner, Frits L.

Congrats to Frits, and congrats to Andreas.  Thank you both for sharing these photos of the project!
