Memorial Day 2010 First Drive 1982 323i BMW Baur Lapisblau M20 5 speed #4154 of 4595 made. The car was imported to California by Dietel Enterprises. I have since changed the wheels, installed the clear turn signal lenses, and I am in the process of installing a new cabriolet roof. I have to do something about those bumpers, too. :) I love this car! To see one of the reasons why, check my post "Score One For the Good Guys" on 6/26/2011.

Small Baur World: Tracking Rudy's Taiga Cabrio Targa

Well, folks, out of the blue, we have another great Small Baur World story. And we totally did not see this one coming, until it started literally unfolding before our very eyes today.

We got the first hint about a week ago, when our new friend Rudy Manseenus of Texas posted in a Facebook thread that he was awaiting the shipment of a green Cabrio Targa by Baur.   That immediately got our attention, and Rudy posted the following pics.

What we appear to have here is a beautiful Taiga Cabrio Targa inside a shipping container, ready to go!  Rudy mentioned that it is being shipped to him in Texas, but we do not know where it is being shipped from.

I asked Rudy to keep us posted on the progress, and that we were very interested in learning more about it.  This will make 4 Cabrio Targas in Texas, btw.  (Two owned by Terry Sayther, one by Jp Lips, and now this one.)  Rudy wasn't sure of the expected delivery date at that point, but he was well aware of the other three Cabrio Targas.

A few days later, Wilbert Geneugelijk posted this pic, and asked if it was being shipped from The Netherlands (which he took this pic on the highway).  Correction:  Wilbert informs me that he did not take the pic, but saw it on another Facebook page! ** (Which only makes the story MORE amazing and serendipitous!  :)  Someone named Bas van Raal saw the transport truck, took the pics, and posted them on a Dutch page.  Wilbert then saw the pic, and remembered the thread about the Taiga Targa, and re-posted the pics there!)
Whoa, I thought!  What a coincidence if he just happened to capture a pic of this very same Taiga Cabrio being transported in The Netherlands to the boat for shipping!!!  Remember, at this point we had no idea where the Targa was located!

Then this morning, I received a link*--- again out of the blue! --- from my friend Bob Kauffman in New Mexico.
Wow! Another Taiga Cabrio Targa, and it is located in The Netherlands, apparently for sale!  So, on a hunch, I contacted Rudy to see if this was his car!  And here is our conversation, as it unfolded:

And our friend Harry shortly joined in the fun:
Harry Bonkosky If I saw that rig rolling down the highway I would probably get a coronary.

Rudy Manseenus Harry Bonkosky 👌🏼👌🏼

And Wilbert rejoined the conversation with this pic:

Wilbert Geneugelijk And another one. Cheers from NL

What a riot this was!  Another highway pic of the Targa in transit!

And this is another example of why I love doing this blog!  Rudy is in Texas, Oldenzaal Classic is in The Netherlands, Hans Wortelboer and Wilbert  Geneugelijk are also in Europe, Bob Kauffman is in New Mexico,  JP Hermes is in California, Harry Bonkosky is in Puerto Rico, and I am in Connecticut.  Yet, thanks to the wonders of the Internet, we all shared in this very funny and coincidental Small Baur World story this morning..... in real time!  Too funny!

And we will shortly get to welcome another addition to our growing and vibrant Baur community!  Congratulations to Rudy Manseenus on your new acquisition(s), and welcome to Baurspotting!  And thank you for sharing that first little hint of your new Taiga Cabrio Targa last week, which led us into all of this fun!  Great stuff!

Here are some more pics.  Enjoy!

I should mention, by the way, that it is my understanding that all of these cars pictured here and on the transport truck, are coming to Rudy.  !!!   That includes an Alpina, a 2002 Turbo, the Cabrio Targa, and a fourth car that I am not sure of.  Nice haul, Rudy!
