1982 BMW 323i Baur
Memorial Day 2010 First Drive 1982 323i BMW Baur Lapisblau M20 5 speed #4154 of 4595 made. The car was imported to California by Dietel Enterprises. I have since changed the wheels, installed the clear turn signal lenses, and I am in the process of installing a new cabriolet roof. I have to do something about those bumpers, too. :) I love this car! To see one of the reasons why, check my post "Score One For the Good Guys" on 6/26/2011.

Requiescat In Pace Elmore Leonard

"The Cadillac of Minivans."

As a car guy, that line alone endeared me to Elmore Leonard.  The late Elmore Leonard, sadly.  It is a quote from one of my top five movies of all time:  "Get Shorty".   I love that movie for a lot of reasons, but that line is certainly one of them.  Funny, oxymoronic, and absurd car-salesmanese all rolled up in one.  I love it.

Elmore Leonard died last week.  I never knew him, but I wish I did.  Any guy who can up with a line like that... is someone I'd like to talk to.

And I gotta admit that I loved this.  Another reason to love Elmore Leonard.

Elmore, I hardly knew ya.  And that is clearly my loss.

Requiescat in Pace, Amen.
