1982 BMW 323i Baur

1982 BMW 323i Baur
Memorial Day 2010 First Drive 1982 323i BMW Baur Lapisblau M20 5 speed #4154 of 4595 made. The car was imported to California by Dietel Enterprises. I have since changed the wheels, installed the clear turn signal lenses, and I am in the process of installing a new cabriolet roof. I have to do something about those bumpers, too. :) I love this car! To see one of the reasons why, check my post "Score One For the Good Guys" on 6/26/2011.

Back On The Road: Andre's 1600 Voll Cabrio by Baur in The Netherlands!

Congratulations to our friend, Andre Feunekes in The Netherlands, on nearing completion of his BMW 1600 Voll Cabrio by Baur!   What a beauty!

He posted this today:
Vanmorgen naar de RDW geweest voor de "inburgeringscursus" van mijn cabrio. Hij is met vlag en wimpel geslaagd!

Went to the DMV this morning for the "course" of my convertible. He passed with flag and pennant!

Here are some photos of the 'work in progress' from December 2016!

Congratulations, Andre, you are an inspiration to all of us!  ;)

Here is a previous post on Andre's project:

Colchester Cruise on the Green July 17, 2018

One of my favorite local shows, year in year out, is the Colchester Cruise on the Green, held monthly from April to September each year in Colchester, CT, and sponsored by the Good Times Motoring Club.  This is a phenomenal show, frequently drawing 300 plus cars, with a cutoff date of 1988 (except for Corvettes, apparently).  Last night was no exception, and the Green was packed with a wide variety of vehicles from the 1910s to the 1980s.

Unfortunately, my DSLR camera died last month, and I left the chip for my Nikon compact at home in the card reader (Duh!), so all I had with me was my camera phone. Day um.  I could not possibly do justice to the wonderful array of cars there last night, so I limited my pics to a few that particularly caught my fancy at the moment.  Wandering through the Green on such a lovely summer night, I quickly hit overload, put my camera away, and just breathed in the scene.  And as always, I met and chatted with some wonderful folks all evening.  It was a great night!

I have posted pics from Colchester several times in the past, and if you are interest4ed, just search this blog to see them.

So without further ado, here are the pics:

Yes, you are looking at TWO (2, count 'em) inline V8 engines here.  ;)

Flathead 8.

Gorgeous.

I wanted to get these two together, as the Chevy drove by.

Alfa and a Karmann Ghia, were among the few 'foreign' cars on the Green.

Chevy Vega.

OK, I have a soft spot in my heart for 1963 and 1964 Chevrolets.  I admit it.  ;)

GTO convertible.

This guy pulled up and parked next to me.  I love it.

This is the truck's builder.  Diamond plate interior.  He actually built this on a modern F-250 chassis.
