Memorial Day 2010 First Drive 1982 323i BMW Baur Lapisblau M20 5 speed #4154 of 4595 made. The car was imported to California by Dietel Enterprises. I have since changed the wheels, installed the clear turn signal lenses, and I am in the process of installing a new cabriolet roof. I have to do something about those bumpers, too. :) I love this car! To see one of the reasons why, check my post "Score One For the Good Guys" on 6/26/2011.

Baurspotting's Growing "Small Baur World'!

UPDATE December 4, 2018:

thanks to our friend and fellow Baur owner, Michael Compensis, for spotting a TC2 Baur on the Island of Madeira, an autonomous region of Portugal! That make 172 countries around the globe!

UPDATE May 26, 2016:
Welcome to Antigua & Barbuda!  171 countries around the world!

Update August 29, 2015

Welcome to American Samoa!  Baurspotting has reached at least 168 169 170 171 countries that we know of!  Wow!  Our "Small Baur World' continues to grow!  ;)

If you are reading this and do not see YOUR country listed below...... please let me know, and I will be most happy to add your country to the list!

Welcome to all!

UPDATE:  May 9, 2013
This is a blog post that first appeared on February 28, 2013.  We like to periodically take a look at it, and share our findings.  As of this date, Baurspotting has been read in 127  128 142 149 155 158 159 160 161 162 163 164 165 167 168 169 170 countries around the globe---- that we know of!  These are countries that I have personally seen listed on the site, and it does not include any country that may have appeared when I was asleep, for example.  So there could be more countries to add to the list!   Thank you for your support!  We hope to continue to earn your attention!

BWR PWR!

:)

February 28, 2013.    I started checking on Baurspotting's readership a few weeks ago to see in which countries our readers reside.  I had done this about a year ago, and  I had compiled a list of over 110 countries that had visited the site.  Unfortunately I  was working with a new-to-me iPad at the time and I accidentally deleted that post.  I still don't know exactly what I did wrong but I was unable to retrieve it!  I was bummed out!

So, I decided to try it again.  Since I haven't been able to get any kind of a list from blogspot, I have to do it myself in an informal way, in a 'catch as catch' can sort of fashion.  This is not a systematic or scientific way of doing this whatsoever, but it is the best I can manage at this point.  The way it works is that I have to check at a given moment to see what countries are currently represented at that moment.   Blogspot will tell me the top 10 countries that are on the site at that time.  That is all well and good, except that if there are more than 10 countries on the site, say 15, I cannot see who the last 5 are.  And since they are listed by number of visitors, the ones left off the list would be those with just one or a few visitors.  And since I can't check 24/7, there may be many visitors to the site that remain unknown to me, because they come online when I am sleeping.  Sometimes I get lucky, however.  The other day, for example, I checked and found visitors from Andorra, Suriname and the Faroe Islands!  So I get a free geography lesson from time to time!  :)   It is an imperfect system, but it will suffice for now to give us an idea of how much interest there is in Baurs around the world.

And by the way.... NO one is more amazed by the extent of the interest in Baurspotting than I!  I started this blog at the suggestion of my son, Brian, because of my interest in Baurs.  I didn't even know what a blog WAS at the time!  Baurspotting has grown much more than I ever expected, and it continues to be a fun ride.... and a Labor of Love!  Thank you all for your support and continuing interest, and we promise to work hard to continue to earn your support.

And we wish to extend a hearty and warm welcome to our Baurspotting World to ALL!

We have much more still to come so please.... STAY TUNED!

The following is a list of the countries and locales that I have personally spotted on Baurspotting over the past two years.  I am sure I have missed others, as noted above, but I will add more as I spot them.

New Baur in Connecticut Spotted For Sale! 1979 320/6 $30,000! Wow!

Thanks to our friend, Robert Muzsi, for posting this Baur that he found posted on the New Haven (CT) Craigslist!

This is very exciting news, since, for years, we have only known of two confirmed E21 Baurs here in Connecticut:  mine and Afonso's!  This will make three E21 Baurs in CT!  (N.B.  Our friend, Rob T. did have one for a time, but he has since sold it, and we believe that it is now in Vermont.)

I did some checking, and contacted the seller (Scott) by phone.  He gave me a little background on the car.  I believe it has had the same owner since some time in the 1980's.  He stated that it is in exceptional condition with very low miles.  We requested more info and pics, and I will share it here when I have it.

"Exotic car - $30000"

Scott also sent me this pic of the Baur plate, on request, to help us determine whether it is listed on the International Baur Registries yet.  I am pleased to announce that, since it is not yet listed, it qualifies as a NEW FIND!
Baur #000714-06

Congratulations, and welcome to our Baur Community!

Jamiroquai's Former Inka Baur Cabrio Targa For Sale!

Thanks to Felipe Ucros Arbouin for the heads up on this special sale!  We had heard a rumor that this car may be for sale, and now it is confirmed!  this car was formerly part of JK's collection.  He is the lead singer of the band "Jamiroquai".  We have done two previous posts about him and this Targa here in Baurspotting*.

BMW 2002 BAUR CABRIOLET For Sale (1974)

"1974 2002 Baur 64,000 miles, finished in inka orange with black cloth/vinyl interior. Bought from the original owner by a professional vehicle restorer and subjected to a very high-level full restoration 1991-1993. Subsequently the vehicle has been a multiple show winner and since the restoration has befitted from a full brake system overhaul, which included the replacement of both servos and a rebuilt master cylinder. It has also had the original cylinder head rebuilt and converted to run on unleaded by Jaymic, reconditioned solex carburettor, reconditioned starter motor and alternator, new radiator and all cooling hoses replaced. Although restored some time ago now this fantastic little motor car is still in show condition, indeed you could eat your dinner off the underside. Comes compete with a comprehensive history file detailing the full restoration and subsequent maintenance. Latterly the car has resided in the Jamiroquai collection up until our acquisition recently and is now ready to be enjoyed by a lucky new custodian. A super little motor car in a fantastic and original period colour – a very rare car too!"

TWO Baur Cabrio Targas in North Carolina! Welcome Ken W!

Thanks to Mike Pugh and jgerock for alerting us to the presence of a new Baur Cabrio Targa in North Carolina, joining Mike and Eileen's:  Ken Worsham recently imported this 1974 Inka Cabrio Targa by Baur from The Netherlands.  These are the first pics that we have seen!  Welcome to our Baur Community, Ken!

Introducing Ken's 1974 Inka Cabrio Targa by Baur!

(L to R) Mike and Eileen's red Cabrio;  Ken's Inka Cabrio, and ( I believe) Bob B's Touring.  Interestingly,  according to Mike, all three of these Baurs were imported to the US from The Netherlands over the last 10 years.

A most unusual sight, at least in the US!  Wow!  Gotta love it!

;)

Thanks again to our friend Mike P and to jgerock for alerting us, and.....

Our Baurspotting T-Shirt Shows Up in An Ebay Ad for a 628CSi Custom Convertible!

I got a funny phone call tonight from my good friend, and fellow Baur owner, Afonso C. (who owns the only other TC1 Baur in Connecticut, btw).   He told me that he saw the "Baurs In Da Haus" t-shirt (produced by exclusively by Baurspotting) in an ad for a BMW 6 series convertible on ebay!  I immediately recognized the car... because it is a one-off 628CSi custom convertible conversion that I had seen a couple of times at the Larz Anderson Automobile Museum in Brookline, MA.

Here is the car at Larz Anderson on BMW Day, August 9, 2015.

And here is one of the pics in the ebay ad that Afonso saw tonight.  It is a 628 CSi custom convertible, and I have met the owner, and his family at Larz a couple of times.  Nice folks.  Sure enough, you can see a gentleman staring behind the car wearing a t shirt that says "Baurs In Da Haus"!    That is my friend, and fellow Baur owner, Rodney B., of New Hampshire, whose Baur we featured in out Larz Anderson Museum BMW Day* post a couple of weeks ago!
Here is another pic from a different angle.  Hi Rodney!  :)  I believe that the owner is the young man  in the dark blue shirt standing at the left with Rodney at the right.

And here is a pic of Rodney's beautiful white E21 Baur at that same show that very same day, parked right behind me!
The Baurspotting Baur at Larz Anderson on August 9, 2015 with Rodney's Baur right behind it.
Rodney's 1979 320/6 Baur.  Beautiful!  That is Peter M's Baur Cabrio Targa at the righ of the pic, incidentally!  This was the "BAUR Section" of the BMW Day at the Museum!  ;)

Thanks you for the heads up, Afonso!  Great find!  And thank you, Rodney, for helping to get the word out on Baurs!  :)
