1982 BMW 323i Baur
Memorial Day 2010 First Drive 1982 323i BMW Baur Lapisblau M20 5 speed #4154 of 4595 made. The car was imported to California by Dietel Enterprises. I have since changed the wheels, installed the clear turn signal lenses, and I am in the process of installing a new cabriolet roof. I have to do something about those bumpers, too. :) I love this car! To see one of the reasons why, check my post "Score One For the Good Guys" on 6/26/2011.

Car Furniture... Made From Car Parts!

Do you have a car shell hanging around that you are not sure what you want to do with it.... but you don't want to part with it?  Or perhaps some surplus auto parts that are no longer serviceable, but are just too cool to throw in the trash?

Well, this post is for you.  Here are some examples of alternative uses for everything from a full car body, to parts of bodies, engines, steering wheels, even internal engine parts.  The pics are drawn from a variety of sources.  It really makes you appreciate how clever and skillful some folks are with items that many of us would consider junk.

Personally, I love this stuff!  And I have daydreamed many times about trying to do something along these lines with the leftovers from my parts cars.  I am not sure that I have the requisite skills to pull it off, but.... it sure would be fun to give it a shot, wouldn't it?

Enjoy!

UPDATE November 1, 2015:  Thanks to Audrey Celmo-Kelly for posting these pics in our friend Paul Wegweiser's Facebook Timeline today!

I love this!  And to think I just helped assemble a big swing set kit for my grandson a few weeks ago at his house1  This would be perfect at grandpa's house, wouldn't it?  ;)  And I even have a BMW E21 parts car body to build it with!  With seat belts!  ;)

And here is how I could re-purpose the FRONT end of my E21 parts car!  Waste not, want not, right?  ;)

From Terry Sayther Automotive in Texas

Searching for a gift for the car enthusiast in your life? Here are a few cool ideas that go beyond a pine-scented car freshener, including a hot-rod gas grill, an entertainment center made from an actual Porsche, a Fiat-themed sofa and a wine rack made from an all-aluminum 1962 Buick 215 V8 engine block.

This is how it could be done.  Simple, right?   ;)   2002FAQ'ers may recognize this guy!  ;)

Beautiful!

Long-time favorite!

Close up view.  The lights work!

Unique wall-hanging/bookcase.

Start 'em out right!

I actually considered doing this one.... I had a white 1975 Mercedes 300D just like this.  The hood opens up into a toy chest or a clothes bureau.
