1982 BMW 323i Baur

1982 BMW 323i Baur
Memorial Day 2010 First Drive 1982 323i BMW Baur Lapisblau M20 5 speed #4154 of 4595 made. The car was imported to California by Dietel Enterprises. I have since changed the wheels, installed the clear turn signal lenses, and I am in the process of installing a new cabriolet roof. I have to do something about those bumpers, too. :) I love this car! To see one of the reasons why, check my post "Score One For the Good Guys" on 6/26/2011.

Small Baur World Again!! TC4 For Sale in Romania!

I received an email today from Gheran C. A. in Romania.  I prepared the post below, but I had this feeling that this Baur was familiar somehow.  I did a quick search on the TC4, and I found 4 or 5 of our previous posts, but not this car.

As I finished the post, I decided that, since the TC4s are so rare, I would add a few links to our previous TC4 posts.  This time I used the embedded search window in Baurspotting in the sidebar.  And up pops this post from November 11, 2013!

Bingo! Another Small Baur World coincidence!  Our friend Hans W. had spotted this ad in a UK website for a TC4, and sent it to us.... over a year ago!  :)  Same car #213 out of 312 actually built!  (Production was 310, plus 1 prototype from Germany, and 1 South African prototype.)

So, once again, what we thought might be a new Baur discovery turns out to be a Baur that we have already seen!  But this time we are in touch with the person who owns the car!

Welcome to Baurspotting, Gheran!  :)

Here is Gheran's email:
"Hi Tom,

I'm one of the last owners of such cars.

Indeed there were built ONLY 310 TC4s by Baur. My car number is 213. So, yes, a very exclusive model.

I'm from Europe, Romania and I can offer more details about this beautiful car. Also, I have for sale (only for collectors: BMW 318I BAUR TC4 for Sale on Car and Classic UK ).

Thank you,

Here is the text from the ad:

This is a BMW BAUR TC4 original-factory modified 4 doors convertible car , limited edition.Don't miss it out , this is the car no.213. There were only 310 models made so this is a special and unique offer.

It is a 2 WAYS CONVERTIBLE : in front, up to the driver and front-passenger seats is a hardtop and upper the backseats is the soft top .
You can use it as a total 4 doors convertible (without front hardtop and back softtop ) or as a half-convertible (without the softtop and keeping the hardtop in front ,in this way the people from the back-seats are enjoying the free-sky up and the driver and front-passenger are protected of the sun and also they can feel the joy of a convertible).

The car runs great, I changed the roof, the front wheels components and everything is running great.
People are going crazy on the roads when they see the car, because they imagine a convertible only in 2 doors and never saw a 4 doors convertible.
