1982 BMW 323i Baur

1982 BMW 323i Baur
Memorial Day 2010 First Drive 1982 323i BMW Baur Lapisblau M20 5 speed #4154 of 4595 made. The car was imported to California by Dietel Enterprises. I have since changed the wheels, installed the clear turn signal lenses, and I am in the process of installing a new cabriolet roof. I have to do something about those bumpers, too. :) I love this car! To see one of the reasons why, check my post "Score One For the Good Guys" on 6/26/2011.

BMWCCA Jack Cavanaugh Memorial Car Show, Clean Car Contest

Our thanks to IronmanE30 of r3vlimited for posting these pics of the Jack Cavanaugh Memorial Car Show held in mid-May in San Diego, CA!

Three Baurs appeared at the BMWCCA Jack Cavanaugh Memorial Car Show, Clean Car Contest over the May 18-19 2013 weekend.

The first, of course, is immediately recognizable:  Ron Perry's freshly restored white Alpina Baur.  The second Baur  is a red beauty that we have also seen and posted in here before.  The third Baur was a Z1.  I have no info on the owner, except I seem to recall a reference previously to the possibility that it may belong to Carl Nelson, of La Jolla Independent.  I can't say for sure at the moment, however.

Ron Perry's freshly restored TC1 Baur!

This red Baur is also a rather well-known example, having appeared on the cover of November 2009 Roundel, and featured in Bimmer Magazine October 2011.

You can see it here in a post Baurspotting did 2 years ago:

The following are quotes from the Comments section of that post:
"It was featured in Roundel.
S-50, 285 hp conversion by Bullet Performance in Costa Mesa, Ca.

The article is called "RARA AVIS' starting on page 62 on the November 2009 Roundel! Interesting enough, that is also the title of our E30 bimmerforums Baur thread.... only we named it in English rather than Latin. (Rara Avis is Latin for 'Rare Bird. Don't ask how I know.) ;)
I am not sure if this link will work for anyone else .... since I had to access it using my subscription to Roundel:

it looks like it made the cover of that issue.

It was also in Bimmer, Oct 2011. pg. 81-84.
