Thanks to Kevin D for this link! Baurspotting gets mentioned in the ad! How about that! :)
Hello, the vehicle being listed is a 1981 BMW 318i (E21) Baur Cabriolet, VIN# WBAAG310XC7499009.
This car was a project being modded for the track (hence, the flared body kit and extra-wide wheels). The body is in very good condition, the interior a dark-blue cloth with rear seats removed and stock driver's and passenger's seats replaced with bucket racing seats. This car has also had the Euro-spec headlights installed. It does not have an engine or transmission installed, as both were removed to make way for an upgraded manual transmission and M30 engine complete with turbo. I will include a manual transmission and complete M30 (3.5 liter 635csi) engine with the car, as well as all extra parts and trim to be installed which are stored in the trunk and under the hood. This car has a chrome rollcage installed for added structural rigidity, and the suspension has also been upgraded; the rear section of the top and the rear plastic window will need reuphostering and restoring.
The wheels are MK Motorsport 18-inchers wrapped in Pirelli P-Zero 295/30/ZR18 (rear) and 295/40/ZR18 (front) tires. A WIDE 10 inches in the rear, to accomodate the fiberglass body kit. Also included is the Euro-spec chrome front bumper.
For more history on the Baurs; these are basically Targa tops, with a fold-down back and removable T-tops above the driver and passenger. Only 1,874 of them in total were converted by Baur Stuutgart, Germany, among the 2002, E21, and early E30 models. This is one of the few, of 25 US specs, shipped to the US; the rest remained solely on the European market. A couple great websites for in-depth research on these models, as well as current pricing on other comparable models listed for sale, are baurspotting.blogspot.com and baur-tc1.de .
I can be reached via email or anytime at {323} 291 6610. Looking to let this project go in leau of others, as it's been parked between the garage and house for years; I need the space!
