1982 BMW 323i Baur

1982 BMW 323i Baur
Memorial Day 2010 First Drive 1982 323i BMW Baur Lapisblau M20 5 speed #4154 of 4595 made. The car was imported to California by Dietel Enterprises. I have since changed the wheels, installed the clear turn signal lenses, and I am in the process of installing a new cabriolet roof. I have to do something about those bumpers, too. :) I love this car! To see one of the reasons why, check my post "Score One For the Good Guys" on 6/26/2011.

TWO Sharknose Baur-style Top Cabriolets!

Here we have pics  of  a couple of Six Series Top Cabriolets that we found on a Sharknose page.

Look for the similarities to this Baur 3 Series Top Cabriolet, on which it is based:

N.B.  The comments below are from the Sharknose page, translated by Google.

Emil Frey / Crayford
Conversion Kits for Baur Topcabriolets which were actually designed for the BMW 3-series, formed the basis for these two convertible models. The advantage of this variant was that so important a crossbar for the stabilization of the roof could be obtained. Therefore, the body stiffness after reconstruction fell from much higher than could be the case with the full convertible versions. In addition, the Baur-mechanical components used were already established and thus accounted for development costs. However, everything had to be specially adapted to the BMW 6 Series. In Switzerland at least one such vehicle was manufactured by or for the company Emil Frey in Safenwil. The conversion looks professional, only the B-pillar seems pretty solid.

BMW 635 CSI Cabriolet (1981)

635CSi Top Cabriolet for sale:
This unique BMW 635 CSI Cabriolet was rebuilt by a well-known Swiss Carrosseriewerkstatt on convertible. BMW Munich examined the vehicle and registered it at the same time. BMW Munich knows no structurally identical vehicle, so it is a unique piece. We are happy to present a prospect the vehicle.

For the UK market supposedly a hand were fully rebuilt vehicles from the company from Crayford Kent. All of them are right hand drive. However, there are no brochures or other documents that can really confirm.
We have seen pics of this one before.

Lots of other convertibles on the page!  Check it out!
