1982 BMW 323i Baur

1982 BMW 323i Baur
Memorial Day 2010 First Drive 1982 323i BMW Baur Lapisblau M20 5 speed #4154 of 4595 made. The car was imported to California by Dietel Enterprises. I have since changed the wheels, installed the clear turn signal lenses, and I am in the process of installing a new cabriolet roof. I have to do something about those bumpers, too. :) I love this car! To see one of the reasons why, check my post "Score One For the Good Guys" on 6/26/2011.

DIY Baur Cabrio Targa Conversion! Is It Doable?

UPDATE TO THE UPDATE:  Yes it is the same project.  I was in contact with one of the two brothers in bimmerforums.  The other brother posted in 2002faq... and wasn't aware of my earlier post about their project.

UPDATE 3/6/2013:

Alert Baurspotter Scott S. from 2002FAQ sent me this link tonight.
http://www.bmw2002faq.com/component/...opic/t,382181/

The person who posted the link above is from Colorado..... as is the person planning this project under discussion.  So, this is either the same car, or we have an extraordinary coincidence of TWO 2002 Baur top prjects in the same state!!

What are the chances of THAT!

Which is it? Great story either way!

Small Baur World Strikes Again?

Thank you for the link, Scott!

ORIGINAL POST:
I was contacted recently by a fella who has a special project in mind.

He has the Baur Cabrio Targa top section above.

And he has this shell below.

He would like to combine those two and convert the coupe into a Baur Cabrio Targa.

Has anyone here done that?

Any advice, pros, cons, or otherwise?  He has not totally committed to it yet, and he is interested in hearing input on the project, particularly any tips on how this can be done.

Your thoughts, ideas and feedback are most welcome!

I could only offer him the following, which is probably not much help!  ;)
