1982 BMW 323i Baur
Memorial Day 2010 First Drive 1982 323i BMW Baur Lapisblau M20 5 speed #4154 of 4595 made. The car was imported to California by Dietel Enterprises. I have since changed the wheels, installed the clear turn signal lenses, and I am in the process of installing a new cabriolet roof. I have to do something about those bumpers, too. :) I love this car! To see one of the reasons why, check my post "Score One For the Good Guys" on 6/26/2011.

Mateo's Rear Hard Top For His TC2 Baur!

Here is an unusual find, at least here in the USA.  Thanks to Mateo Cono for posting these pics of his TC2 Baur with a newly repainted hard top, which is used in place of the rear fold-down soft top, as an option.
There are a very rare item in the US, but apparently more frequently seen in Europe.

I do not have many other details, but it appears that Mateo stripped off the original covering and simply repainted the hard top.

Here is a link to some more info on the topic.  They apparently originally came in a limited variety of colors, in  fabric material.  The rear window is heated.

Here is an additional comment from Jeroen July 16 in Facebook:

Jeroen Janssen They sometimes pop up on ebay.de. About 250-300 where build. If a car

was delivered original with a hardtop, the digits which tell the coulour of the roof are

different. With a black sonnenland roof, this means that it would have been B47095-63. The

hardtop was available in every roof colour, but not as PVC.

Thank you for posting, Mateo! And thanks to Jeroen and Charles for the additional information!
