Thanks to Tom W. (a former Baur owner) in DC for the heads up on this beauty! And, yes, folks, this is another example of 'Small Baur World'! We have seen this Baur (#689) before! I love this stuff!
Here is Baur #689 as it appears in the International Baur Registry**.
I spoke to, Greg, the owner, this afternoon on the phone. We had a great chat while he was enroute to SC. He told me that he formerly owned a 1977 E21 back in the day, and that he had always wanted a Baur. (The 1977 E21, btw, is a very sought after E21 model! 2.0L fuel injected engine with the big front vented brakes!)
However, he is a busy guy with a couple of cars these days, and he finds that he just doesn't drive this Baur enough. So it is on the market.
As it turns out..... We know this Baur! It is Baur #689! That is #689 out of a total of 4595 built. so this is an early model. We have seen it up close and personal at the Vintage at Saratoga on two different occasions, and under two different owners! Some folks may recall that I love the E21s in white, and this Baur is no exception! Beautiful!
You will notice that, although the rear badge says '320', this is not a 320 engine. A previous owner swapped out the original 320/6 and installed a 325i engine from an E30. I love the original carbureted 320/6, but... the 325i is a common swap for the E21, and it is a great engine in its own right. It is not original (for the purists) but it is a bigger, more modern engine. It is pretty bulletproof.
*Baurspotting has done several previous posts on this Baur. Check them out!

Here it is in 2012 at Saratoga, when it was owned by Greg..... who sold it to Ernie. Here it is again at Saratoga in 2013, when Ernie owned it:
Too funny! Small Baur World!
Seller's comments:
I am selling my 1979 BMW 320i Baur Special Edition Convertible. This a very special collectible BMW. There were only three 1979 models officially imported in 1979 and this car has a history of appearing in may car shows. It has a fuel injected 6 cylinder engine coupled with a smooth 5spd manual transmission that provides great pickup and a truly exhilarating driving experience.
Please email me if you have questions about the car. Make me an offer
Please, I don't need help with selling the car so don't ask. I can be contacted at,
