We posted about this Baur back in February, when we found it listed at $9950. The seller has now apparently reduced his buy it now to $6,000, a considerable reduction, but perhaps still high for a non-originmal 'project'. Unique interior, Zender kit, square headlights. The original M20 323i has been swapped out for an M10 4 cylinder. Not sure if it is the 1.8, the 2.0 or even the M42. Our thanks to 02parts in bimmerforums for the 'heads up' on the re-listing!
"RARE:One Thousand, one hundred and fifty seven of this particular model were made in 1981. We purchased this car and made more modifications... we were recently informed that this care originally had a 6 cylinder, which explains the 323 emblem which is still on the back. The engine must have been swapped out for a four banger, prior to our ownership.
This is a rare, modified 1981 Baur BMW E 21 body style with Zender body kit on sides and Zender fiberglass copies on front and back. one piece is off on the rear right corner, but is included with car. Has sound system, ipod hook up + TV screen. Very unique and special interior, re- upholstered Recaro seats... must see. Bilstein shocks and H& R springs. Brand new fuel pump.
This car is a project car... and has been sitting for a time, due to sickness in the family. It probably needs the brakes to be redone. "
