Carter Kelly Kramer has certainly gotten a lot of mileage out of his 1976 BMW 2002, both literally and figuratively.
Actually, he has probably logged as much mileage figuratively as he has literally! He bought the car as his high school ride, crashed it a month later, then decided---- rather than giving up on it--- to embark on its restoration. After which he sold it----- then bought it back! I love it!
He was able to parlay that experience into a winning college entrance essay, and now his story has gotten splashed onto two online auto blogs: Petrolicious and Jalopnik!
Make that three: Baurspotting! ;)
Not to mention, btw, that he is now driving around in a very cool car!
This is the first time I saw Carter's '02, in the foreground at right. Lime Rock Sunday in the Park, September 2013. This is Carter's pic, and coincidentally enough, I am standing at the left of the pic with my back to the camera, in khaki shorts and my black Baurspotting t-shirt, chatting with Nate Williams of Sports Car Restorations!
Check out the stories below to see what I am talking about! Congrats, Carter!
