1982 BMW 323i Baur

1982 BMW 323i Baur
Memorial Day 2010 First Drive 1982 323i BMW Baur Lapisblau M20 5 speed #4154 of 4595 made. The car was imported to California by Dietel Enterprises. I have since changed the wheels, installed the clear turn signal lenses, and I am in the process of installing a new cabriolet roof. I have to do something about those bumpers, too. :) I love this car! To see one of the reasons why, check my post "Score One For the Good Guys" on 6/26/2011.

A Georgia Peach! 1985 BMW 323i $8,400, Alpharetta Georgia!

1985 BMW 323i $8,400

Congratulations and welcome to Ted Rowe, who sent me this listing for his 1985 323i Baur, currently for sale in Alpharetta, GA.  Baur number is B43544-13, and since it is NOT listed in the International Baur Registry, it qualifies as a NEW FIND!

Congrats, Ted!

Seller's comments:

This is actually a 2-owner 323i Baur TC2 factory convertible conversion. Extremely rare car---less than 20 imported into the US. Fully federalized with all EPA paperwork. M-Technic suspension and the 189hp Euro 2.3i motor. Extensive maintenance records. A rare collector car opportunity for the BMW enthusiast! Car is in good original shape. Needs some general maintenance (timing belt, tune up, etc). I just replaced the fuel pump and filter for $1100. Starts immediately and idles very smoothly, but can hesitate on acceleration. It also needs a new rear top--shouldn't be more than $800 or so. Otherwise, car is in excellent shape per the photos. Absolutely no rust on panels--chrome is in good shape. Car has always been covered and in a garage. All switches and lights in the car work! I have several other cars and this one doesn't get the love it deserves anymore. I have over 100 pages of records for the car and the original bill of sale from the dealer. I bought this car from the original owner in 1992.

N.B.  Autotrader doesn't recognize Euro models, so it will not let the seller post it as a 323i.  It is, in fact, a 323i, per Ted, the seller.  This is a common issue, btw.   For example, I had to register my 1982 323i Baur as a 320i with the State of Connecticut and my insurance company for the same reason.
