Well, folks, out of the blue, we have another great Small Baur World story. And we totally did not see this one coming, until it started literally unfolding before our very eyes today.
We got the first hint about a week ago, when our new friend Rudy Manseenus of Texas posted in a Facebook thread that he was awaiting the shipment of a green Cabrio Targa by Baur. That immediately got our attention, and Rudy posted the following pics.
What we appear to have here is a beautiful Taiga Cabrio Targa inside a shipping container, ready to go! Rudy mentioned that it is being shipped to him in Texas, but we do not know where it is being shipped from.
I asked Rudy to keep us posted on the progress, and that we were very interested in learning more about it. This will make 4 Cabrio Targas in Texas, btw. (Two owned by Terry Sayther, one by Jp Lips, and now this one.) Rudy wasn't sure of the expected delivery date at that point, but he was well aware of the other three Cabrio Targas.
A few days later, Wilbert Geneugelijk posted this pic, and asked if it was being shipped from The Netherlands (which he took this pic on the highway). Correction: Wilbert informs me that he did not take the pic, but saw it on another Facebook page! ** (Which only makes the story MORE amazing and serendipitous! :) Someone named Bas van Raal saw the transport truck, took the pics, and posted them on a Dutch page. Wilbert then saw the pic, and remembered the thread about the Taiga Targa, and re-posted the pics there!)
Whoa, I thought! What a coincidence if he just happened to capture a pic of this very same Taiga Cabrio being transported in The Netherlands to the boat for shipping!!! Remember, at this point we had no idea where the Targa was located!
Then this morning, I received a link*--- again out of the blue! --- from my friend Bob Kauffman in New Mexico.
Wow! Another Taiga Cabrio Targa, and it is located in The Netherlands, apparently for sale! So, on a hunch, I contacted Rudy to see if this was his car! And here is our conversation, as it unfolded:

Rudy, let's meet up again at The Vintage next year and start a Baur section. Gotta love that Taiga!
