PIC UPDATE from Nikos: 1/14/2015! **
Many Baurspotting readers may be familiar with the list below. It was posted by Baur Guru Jeroen Janssen of The Netherlands a few years ago in Bimmerforums. It is a list of the ONLY 25 US Spec Baurs that BMW officially imported to North America. As you can see from the list, 22 of them went to Canada; only 3 made it into the US. Baurspotting has been on a mission to track them down!
The very first one listed, 70164, went to "Prechter, Southgate, USA". That is Heinz Prechter, founder of the American Sunroof Company, which was headquartered for a time in Southgate, Michigan. This is very significant because we believe that American Sunroof Company converted at least one US Spec E21 coupe into an American version of a Top Cabriolet, under license to Baur.

Note the location of the plate, in the same spot as the Baur plate on the E21 Baurs. Note also the number: 001. A one-off?
But that is another story. Check that story out here*! :)
Baurspotting has already located and identified several of the Baurs on this list, and today we are happy to announce that we have found another! Baur #2522!
A Polaris Beauty!
Congratulations to Nikos Margaritis of Vancouver, BC!
How did we find it?
I came across a comment today somewhere... I can't remember where.... in which Nikos mentioned having one of the 20+ US Spec Baurs. That got my attention, as you can imagine!
I did not know Nikos, so I sent him a friend request, followed by an inquiry about the Baur. And his response (with the two pics above) made my day!
I look forward to hearing more from Nikos about this Baur, so stay tuned!
PLUS: look for a Baurspotting post featuring ALL of the Baurs that we have found so far from Jeroen's list of 25 US Spec Baurs in North America!
Soon come, mon!
;)

"My father in law was the original owner of this car untill he passed away and gave it to me. When i got the car i didn't know how rare it was and after a lot of searching i found it was a Baur . It only has 120000 km and drives like new. I have collector plates on it and everything is original on the car. The bmw club of BC asked me many times to take it in one of their car shows they do around the year."
I hope you will take the BMW Club of BC up their offer one of these days, Nikos! They will love this car!
In addition to that....
1) the LeMay Family Collection Museum in Tacoma, WA recently added a BMW E30 TC2 Baur to their collection, one of the largest in the US!
2) There is a very active and friendly BMW group (known affectionately as the PNWBBs) in the Portland, OR area, including a couple of Baurs. Check out the E21 Legion page in Facebook... I have already posted your car there! You can reach them there..... ask for Jesse N. ;)
3) The BMW Puget Sound Chapter would also love to see your car. Check out their site: http://www.bmwpugetsound.com/about/
Thank you for the updates, Nikos!
