1982 BMW 323i Baur
Memorial Day 2010 First Drive 1982 323i BMW Baur Lapisblau M20 5 speed #4154 of 4595 made. The car was imported to California by Dietel Enterprises. I have since changed the wheels, installed the clear turn signal lenses, and I am in the process of installing a new cabriolet roof. I have to do something about those bumpers, too. :) I love this car! To see one of the reasons why, check my post "Score One For the Good Guys" on 6/26/2011.

The very open BMW 1600 Cabriolet was designed and built at BAUR in Stuttgart for BMW. As a four-seater, elegant convertible it was then, as now his lover. The incipient security thinking in the early 70s led then to the roll bar of the Successor BMW 2002 Cabriolet, which is in common parlance known as "targa". Although the "targa" is less "open", he brings versatility and suitability for everyday use and has both his lovers.

BMW 1600 Cabriolet or (externally identical) 2002 Cabriolet in absolute stock condition (only the "Baur" - emblem missing on the fender behind the right front wheel) Color available only for the convertible and "targa" Condor (maize yellow), a Porsche shade this time. Click on the image another example (there not original: wheel trims missing)

BMW 2002 Cabriolet with roll bar, commonly "targa" called. The figure shows very early models with painted roll bar (which was covered with black imitation leather from about 1972). Until facelift in September 1973 front grille and round tail lights remained in the picture. Click on the picture shows another example of this model.

BMW 2002 Cabriolet with roll bar from September 1973 square tail lights, black plastic front grills and other rims. Special equipment in the picture: overriders rear and right mirrors

The pictures illustrative of the possible variations Targa. Quite frankly, with fresh air almost like (full) convertible or with out genome-menem roof rather than part of a large sunroof or as Landaulet only open at the back (if the sun is too strong or even for those cooler days or even closed completely.
