1982 BMW 323i Baur
Memorial Day 2010 First Drive 1982 323i BMW Baur Lapisblau M20 5 speed #4154 of 4595 made. The car was imported to California by Dietel Enterprises. I have since changed the wheels, installed the clear turn signal lenses, and I am in the process of installing a new cabriolet roof. I have to do something about those bumpers, too. :) I love this car! To see one of the reasons why, check my post "Score One For the Good Guys" on 6/26/2011.

UPDATE 12/9/2012:  The seller has contacted us about this car:  see comment at the end of this post.  Also.... here is a thread we discovered tonight that gives a little history of this car, with pics, going back several owners!
http://www.bmw2002faq.com/component/option,com_forum/Itemid,57/page,viewtopic/t,354620/highlight,chop+top/

We have seen many versions of the factory authorized  Baur convertible conversions, and we have recently come across some examples of the rare Lumma aftermarket conversions.  Here is an example of a chop top convertible conversion.  We know nothing else about the car, other than what appears here in the craigs list ad.

  1. Hello, this is my car. It was chopped by a guy called conkitchen on the 2002faq page. Then sold to the previous owner here in Florida in 2010, the original color was granatrot and was later painted malaga, as far as I know already before conkitchen chopped it. The previous owner didn't do anything on it and when I bought it, I repainted it added the rollbar and got a local upholsterer to make the top. It was always fun to drive in the Florida sun, especially at night with a clearsky, many people raised concern on structural integrety as there are no extra supports welded in. So far I havn't had any problems with flex, or scuttle shaking even after crossing the bumpy railroad countless times the doors close smooth as ever. So I was told the '76 also had a more rigid chassis then the older models. I hope she finds a new owner who is not memeber of the Original Polizei and can enjoy vollcabrio feeling for little money ;)

btw it is on ebay aswell http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=261140164582&ssPageName=ADME:L:LCA:MOTORS:1123

  3. I know this if off topic but I'm looking into starting my own weblog and
was wondering what all is needed to get setup? I'm assuming
having a blog like yours would cost a pretty penny?
I'm not very web savvy so I'm not 100% sure. Any
tips or advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
