Baurs in Museum Collections: Voll Cabrio Baur at the Brazzeltag - Speyer Technik Museum

You may have seen out earlier post when we announced that an E30 TC2 Baur had been added to the the LeMay Family Collection Museum in Takoma, WA last fall.  We have discovered another Baur as part of a Museum collection!  This time it is the fantastic Brazzeltag - Speyer Technik Museum (part of the famous Sinsheim Museum).  Have you heard of this place?  Well, fasten your seat belts, folks!  This is a private collection that DWARFS  the Smithsonian!

Here is the BMW Voll Cabrio by Baur that suddenly popped up (much to my surprise!) in the midst of the collection!

If you haven't seen this Museum, or you haven't seen the pics of the displays of this museum, you are in for a treat! I had never heard of it until my friend, John B. out in Arkansas, posted a pic of a Lamborghini tractor that he had seen there long ago.  Yeah, you read that right:  Lamborghini started out as a tractor company!  Who knew?  :)
Here is the tractor that John found.

Anyway, that pic gave me an opportunity to explore the Sinsheim Museum for the first time.... and what an incredible place it is!  Thank you, John B.!

I stumbled across it again this weekend, due to a reference to "Brutus', apparently a 1918 race car with a 12 cylinder BMW aircraft engine in it.  Lordy, you know I had to have a look at that!  Well one thing led to another, and the next thing you know I am once again perusing the unbelievable collection of machines, this time at the Brazzeltag - Speyer Technik Museum (which is a branch of the Sinsheim Museum), situated between Frankfurt and Stuttgart.

Brutus!

This event was held a week ago, and the pics that follow were taken then by Dackalone from the F30 forum.    This was his comment, introducing the pics:
"For those of you who don't know... Speyer is home of the Sinsheim Technik Museum. They actually have a larger museum 20 minutes up the Autobahn in in Sinsheim. Think of the Speyer/Sinsheim Technik Museum's as a private version of the Smithsonian - and you will start to get the idea of how big these places are. Trains, planes, cars, rockets, Russian space shuttle... you name it - IT is here at these two museums! "

You simply will not believe the collection of machines in this place:  trains, planes (including not one but TWO supersonic aircraft!.... mounted on the roof!), boats, U-boats, tanks, trucks, tractors, a Space Shuttle (!).  Let me say that again.  A freakin' Space Shuttle!  You name a machine...this museum probably has it.  Here are a few of Dackalone's pics, but please go to the links at the end to REALLY have your mind blown!

:)

Schwimmerwagen?

Doppelganger of The Bean?  ;)

Lordy!  ;)

Mercedes, folks.  Wow.  :)

BMW.

BMW Voll Cabrio by Baur!

This place is Bucket List material!  Much, much more at the links below!  I have barely scratched the surface here.  Check them out!

Thanks again, John B., and thanks to Dackalone for posting the pics!
