This car is NOT listed in the International Baur Registry, so it qualifies as NEW FIND!! Congratulations to EBMW21 for finding and posting the craig's list ad, and to jimjim69 for tracking down the VIN and Baur #s!! Kudos!
We have some new information from bimmerforum member jimjim69 which indicates that this Baur may have been converted in California, AFTER it was imported to the US. We are trying to pin this info down presently, but it is potentially very exciting news. If this info is correct, then we have found a second car that was converted to a Baur in the US by a Baur licensee after being imported, as opposed to the Baur conversion being done in Germany.
You may recall from the bimmerforums thread "Baur TC1 in the US", that rigmaster in NC has a Baur type car with a plate that indicates it was converted to a Baur by the American Sunroof Company, Hempstead, NY. His plate number is 001, which makes it appear that it was the first one done by ASC. We know ASC had a number of locations, including some in California. We continue to seek info on that car.
The car in the craig's list ad above has a Baur plate, rather than an ASC plate, so we still have a lot of questions to track down some answers to.
At any rate, it appears to be a most interesting find, and we will continue to pursue the answers, and keep you posted on what we find.
BTW, it is an M10 320i, US spec, automatic, in white. VIN 7185037. Baur # A003264.
Stay tuned. :)
