1979 316 Baur on Ebay in the UK!

Thanks to Mike Leonard for posting this low mileage 1979 316 Baur in Facebook today.

BMW e21 316 Baur

80,000 miles, FSH, Black

This is a very rare 1979 e21 BMW 316 Baur that was bought new from Cotswold BMW in Cheltenham by a Saudi Prince and wore the original number plate of 11 HRH.

The car was extensively restored in the 1990's with new front wings and a complete respray, photographs are present showing the work.

The wheels are unmarked and unused alpinas with new tyres.

There is an extensive service history, copies of every mot, many bills and service receipts and details on all previous owners. All books provided with the car when new are present including the very rare Baur information book.

Inside the dash is free from cracks and all seats are good apart from the passenger front which is showing signs of wear to the rear of the seat surface.

This car has been in my collection for the last 2 1/2 years but I am now selling as I need further garage room. During my ownership I have had all the brakes redone with new hoses and reconditioned the radiator and replaced the water pump.

These cars are becoming increasingly rare and this model, with it's history and books should become a very collectible car

1984 323i For Sale in Australia!

1984 BMW 3 Convertible

$4,000.00 Negotiable

Thanks to our friend Craig Saxon for the link to this 1984 323i Baur for sale by "Kyle' in Mooroolbark, VIC, Australia.

Up for grabs is a fantastic BMW 1984 323i Baur Convertible with 266,000km on the clock. Unfortunately (for me at least), I need to part with the car due to a change in jobs. I needn’t talk about how fantastic these cars are because if you’re looking at this ad then I’m sure you’re well aware. So, let’s talk about the car.

We’ll start with the good. First and foremost, this car is roadworthied and registered for another 12 months, meaning that it’s a project which you can actually use as a daily drive immediately. If you aren’t looking to restore or modify, this car will serve you great as a daily driver. Those in the e30 community are probably well aware of the struggles involved in just putting one of these great machines back on the road. This is probably one of the biggest advantages to this car, because you can direct funds towards doing to fun stuff (nice set of wheels, performance mods, exhaust etc…) rather than the boring stuff (like replacing control arms, tie-rods, CV joints etc…). In the time I’ve had this car, I repaired quite a few things to put it back on the road, including (but not limited to)

• control arms

• brake disks

• fuel pump/idling jet (that one hurt the wallet a bit)

• Steering guibo (steering is great now)

• new (but used) set of wheels and tyres

• front seat cushions were reupholstered

• front grille, and the grilles which surround the headlights

• air filter

• Gearbox repairs

• New gear shifter

• New interior door handle (was snapped before)

The car has a beautiful (and uncracked) dashboard, something which unfortunately not many e30’s can say they have. It also has a leak-free roof, which is absolutely fantastic for those rainy Melbourne winters.

I’ve got a box of spare parts which will come with the car, simply a bunch of stuff I haven’t had the time to install, e.g. new oil filter, spark plugs, tie-rods, paint (matched to the car) etc…

As expected, there are a few issues. Firstly, as I bought this car from the gold-coast, there is a bit of rust on the body and scattered here and there, but nothing severe. The temperature gauge can be a bit temperamental, go over a speed bump or something and it’ll work, and then go over the next bump and its off again. My friend also managed to pull off the handle from the glovebox (he also snapped the interior door handle but that is fixed now) so that needs replacing (but you can still open it). Unfortunately, there is a small dent on the left rear bumper bar (mum reversed into it). Last significant issue is that I suspect there may be something iffy about the exhaust, it sounds great, but I suspect there may be a hole somewhere. Doesn’t have an effect on performance or economy, but might be something to watch out for.

All in all, this is a fantastic car and I’m sad to see it go. If you’re interested, I’m looking for $4000 negotiable (within reason). Any questions, don’t hesitate to ask me.

Espen's 1983 323i in Norway

Congratulations and welcome to Espen Lothe of Norway, who posted these pics of his 1983 323i Baur in Facebook* today!

This is Baur # B40293.  And since it is not yet listed in the Interrnational Baur Registry**, it qualifies as a NEW FIND!  Congrats, Espen!

UPDATE: We have some new information posted in Facebook about this Baur, thanks to Baur Guru Jeroen Janssen and Espen himself!

Jeroen Janssen It was sold by dealer Stuber in Hamburg. The first owner had a special wish about how to get the car (optioncode 941, Sonderwunschabwicklung). Might be that he picked up the car in Münich.

Espen Lothe Thanks for the info! How do you know?

Espen Lothe That's interesting! Is there any other information one might find in such a list?

Jeroen Janssen What would you like to know? Production by Baur was planned on the 18th of may 1983, production by BMW was 19th of april.

Jeroen is a great resource for Baur enthusiasts!  Thank you, Jeroen!

Espen Lothe The car has been a project for some of my students over the last two years. The engine has been completely rebuilt, all the moving parts in the chassis renewed and this winter the bodywork gets a "full treatment". Hopefully we can use next summer to sort out other shortcomings before we take it apart again for the paintjob next winter. So still some areas to cover...

Wow, that is great stuff!  Please keep us posted as further work is done to the car!

Welcome to Baurspotting, Espen!

Another TC2 Beauty From Tony Forbes-Marsden in the UK!

This is a follow-up to our earlier post about Tony Forbes-Marsden in the UK.  To quote Tony:  "Here's some pics of a 1985 2.3 E30 I have recently done for a customer."

Presenting Baur #4192 which, since it is not yet listed in the International Baur Registry*, constitutes a NEW FIND!

I have a well-known bias toward the E21s and E30s in white, so this is right up my alley!  Beautiful workmanship, Tony!  Kudos!
