1982 BMW 323i Baur

1982 BMW 323i Baur
Memorial Day 2010 First Drive 1982 323i BMW Baur Lapisblau M20 5 speed #4154 of 4595 made. The car was imported to California by Dietel Enterprises. I have since changed the wheels, installed the clear turn signal lenses, and I am in the process of installing a new cabriolet roof. I have to do something about those bumpers, too. :) I love this car! To see one of the reasons why, check my post "Score One For the Good Guys" on 6/26/2011.

Are these new and unknown Baurs?

UPDATE June 2, 2014:  Our friend and fellow Baur owner, Vanik B., informs us that he has worked on this car!
The car is in Santa Ana, CA, and the owner's name is Fariborze.  Thank you, Vanik!  We will try to get the Baur plate number, so stay tuned!

I found these pics on a rather random search of a Bing E21 photo gallery.  Does anyone recognize this Baur?
http://www.bing.com/images/search?q=E21+320is&qpvt=E21+320is&FORM=IGRE&id=9C810952FC79E8C5175A8EB8895D3052D642F222&selectedIndex=0#view=detail&id=9C810952FC79E8C5175A8EB8895D3052D642F222&selectedIndex=0

All of these pics appear to be the same car, no other identification was provided.

Further perusal of that site gave  these other Baurs, some of which we know very well.

We recognize that this is Baur #1929.

We know this is Sevan's Baur.
We know this car from an ebay ad..

Hmmm.  What is this one?

Not sure about this one.  Hmmm.  :)  Do we know it?

Any help or comments are greatly appreciated.  Do you have any info on these unknown Baurs?  Please let us know!  :)  Thanks in advance!

Stay tuned!

F-Bomb (and the chicken) At The Vintage at the Vineyards 2014

Paul Wegweiser and the F-Bomb at 2014 Vintage at the Vineyards

The Vintage had a turnout of about 300 cars this year.  One explanation given for the large turnout was that there was great anticipation that Paul was going to do a repeat performance of his legendary 2-hour overnight 'head-gasket-ectomy", but that never panned out.  Paul was reported to have commented that he 'didn't need one this time."  Maybe next year, folks.  ;)

That is not to say that there were no overnight shenanigans, which may or may not have involved Paul, Rob "The Hack Mechanic" Siegel's Bavaria, and a certain randy chicken.*  See below.

*The license alteration (above) is still under investigation.

Security cameras caught the following suspicious activity during the night:

This has been referred to as "The Anointing", apparently, in the audio that was recorded of the incident.  We are not exactly sure what that means but.... the DNA sample test results may shed some light on it.

It is not known for sure if there is any connection between the chicken and the license alternation, but we do note that.... they are the same color!  ;)

Stay tuned for updates on the investigation!

A good time was had by all at The Vintage.  Especially the chicken!  ;)

Three Baurs at Vintage at the Vineyards 2014!

The annual Vintage at the Vineyards was held Memorial Day weekend, with a great turnout of about 300 vintage BMWs.  There are many sites where you can view photos of the entire event, but here we will just feature the Baurs that were in attendance that day.

Baurspotting was not able to attend in person, although we hope to do so one of these years.  We therefore have to rely on the other participants for pics of the show.  It has taken us a few days, but we have managed to put together some shots of the Baurs that were in attendance this year.  Thanks to Online Roundel, Mike Pugh, Reggie's Motorworks and Brad Day for taking these pics.

Enjoy!

This is John M's Kashmir Metallic Baur.

This pic, along with the next four pics, appeared in the Online Roundel this week.  You can just see John's baur playing peek-a-boo if you look carefully.  ;)

Finally, a nice shot of the whole car!
Two pics from Brad day during the rally.

Thanks again to Reggie and Stephanie!

This is a pic of our friend, Jeff D's TC2 Baur, taken at the rally to Pilot Mountain on Friday, the day before the show.  Pic by Mike P, who owns the green NK at the right.  Thanks, Mike!

Jeff D.   :)

This is a shot of Jeff's Baur at the hotel.

Friday morning at the hotel, from Brad Day.

This TC2 beauty belongs to Scott P.  Pics from Brad Day.

I will add to this post if I find more Baur pics from the Vintage, folks!

Stay tuned!
